Folders: The standard stock most suitable for folders would be a 350gsm silk. We also offer a thinner 300gsm option on the non-capacity folders only. A heavier weight is available if you are looking for a sturdier option, especially on folders with a thicker capacity. We would recommend adding a laminate on the thicker stocks in particular.
Leaflets and Flyers: A 130gsm silk would be a good standard weight for most flyers, but we offer a range of paper weights up to 200gsm and then card options from 250gsm up to 350gsm which are ideal for postcards and other heavier use items.
Folded Leaflets: 130gsm silk is a good choice for your average leaflet, but we can offer a range of paper and card weights for all your folded leaflet needs. Heavier weight papers and cards will be scored for a neat finish to avoid cracking on the folds.
Stationery: Letterheads and compliment slips are usually printed on either 100gsm or 120gsm uncoated stock, which is laser-compatible for use with your home or office printers.
Business Cards: 350gsm silk would be a standard choice for most cards, but we can also offer other options and finishes for you to suit your needs.
Coated stocks such as silk or gloss have a finish which works well for reproducing photographs and other jobs that require vibrant images.
Uncoated stocks are perfect for any jobs that require you to overprint on them afterwards, such as letterheads, or that you need to write on by hand, such as forms.
Interlocking folders are usually supplied flat, ready for the customer to make up when required. Having them flat saves storage space and these folders have interlocking tabs making them very easy to self-assemble.
Glued folders are recommended to be supplied ready assembled. Gluing the pockets can be a time-consuming job and not ideal for the end-user, unless you are a placing a trade order and have the capacity to finish these in-house yourself.
As a guide, the non-capacity folders can hold up to 12 sheets of 100gsm paper, the 5mm capacity folders can hold up to 40 sheets of 100gsm paper, or the 10mm capacity can hold up to 80 sheets.
Matt or gloss lamination is often a great addition to many items, such as folders or business cards. It can help make them more durable and provide a nice overall finish.
We also offer a soft touch laminate if you are looking for a premium velvet-feel finish. Or anti-scuff laminate which is recommended if your artwork has large areas of dark flood colour.
Spot UV can be added if you wish to highlight certain elements on your design. This works well on the outer side of folders, book covers or business cards and can give a premium look to your work. We recommend that you also add a matt laminate if you choose to Spot UV.
Foiling is another special finish which can be used to great effect. Ideal for titles and logos on front covers, for example. Gold and silver are the standard available colours but please contact us if you need anything specific and we can provide a bespoke quote for you.
On the order page there will be an option for you to attach your files for printing. If you have any problems, please send an e-mail with the attachments (or via WeTransfer) to artwork@expressfolders.co.uk
Please make sure you read the Artwork Supply guide first to help you prepare the files correctly.
At Express Folders, we offer FREE artwork checking and PDF Proof with every job.
We can offer minor artwork amends, if needed, for £20. If a second PDF is required, we can offer this for £15.
Exact times will depend on the product, the quantity and the finishes involved. As a guide, a folder with no special finishes would take around 7-8 working days with Standard Delivery, or around 4-5 ways with the Express Delivery option. If you add Spot UV or Foiling options then this could add an extra 2-3 days to turnaround times.
We can advise on estimated delivery times once an order has been placed.
All orders are sent out in white label packaging as standard.
No branded documents, logos or labels are included with your print job, so you can be assured that all deliveries will arrive to your client without any reference to the print company or website.
Your invoice and order details will be sent to you by e-mail only and not included in the order packaging itself.
This ensures that your client does not need to know where the printed contents originate from and it looks like you have produced the items yourself and sent directly to your customer.
